Development of new technology for diagnosis and therapy of lymph node metastasis

We are studying the pathophysiology of diseases in the digestive tract from the view of in vivo migration of lymphocytes and antigen-presenting cells in the blood and lymphatic microvessels of the gastrointestinal mucosa and gut-associated lymphoid tissues. In this project, we are aiming to develop a new technology for identifying micrometastases in situ at an early stage and ablating them selectively. We have established a joint project with the Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University and have manufactured a multi-lumen laparoscope to execute photodynamic diagnosis/therapy and laser-aided gene delivery at the tip of the catheter.
